The Urdu Academy is an Autonomous Body, constituted by the Government of Andhra Pradesh vide G.O.Ms. No.1466, Dated 31-12-1975, registered under A.P. (Andhra Pradesh Area) Public Societies Regi After the state bifurcation, Andhra Pradesh State Urdu Academy has been registered under the A.P. Societies Registration Act, 2001.

As per the bye-laws of the Academy, the policies & projects of the Academy and to fulfill the aims & objects of the Academy are determined by the Board of Governors of the Academy. The area of activity of the Urdu Academy is limited to the literary activities such as extending financial assistance for holding Seminars, Mushairas etc., to Urdu Organizations and agencies; and publication of Urdu Manuscripts written by Urdu Poets, Writers and Linguists. Basically Urdu Academy’s functioning, its schemes & projects are meant for the promotion & protection of Urdu Language & Literature and is nothing to do with the minorities & its activities are basically literary & academic in nature and pertaining to the welfare.

Amzath Basha Shaik Bepari is an Indian politician who is the 12th and current Deputy Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh and MLA from Kadapa.

He belongs to the YSRCP. He started his political career as a Corporator from Kadapa Municipal Corporation in 2009 under YSR Rule and later elected as MLA with more than 30,000 majority in 2014 Elections. He continued his loyalty with Y. S. Jaganmohan Reddy and now have won with more than 50,000 majority from Kadapa constituency, the fourth highest majority in the State Assembly elections.

Sri.H. Nadeem Ahmed has taken over as new chairman of the Andhra Pradesh Urdu Academy (APUA) in presence of Deputy Chief Minister Amzath Basha, endowments minister Vellampalli Srinivas Rao, AP Minorities Corporation chairman Sk. Asif, Kadiri MLA Siddha Reddy and MLCs Md. Karimunnisa and V Rajagopal Reddy.
